Oil Pans To purchase new oil pans, please refer to our new oil pans page at: http://store.440source.com/Oil-Pans/products/54/
We maintain this page as in informational resource on original Chrysler factory
oil pans, where we try to list pictures and specifications when they are
available. At the bottom of the page, you will find a table that lists all
original oil pan applications for all big blocks from all years in production,
from 1958-1978. In cases where a new reproduction part is available, you will
find the part number in
RED
and it can be clicked on to take you to the page where you can purchase the
item.

Shown here is a factory "187" oil pan, Chrysler part number 2532186.
These are about 5" deep and hold 4 quarts of oil, plus one in the filter,
for 5 quarts total. See the table at the bottom of this page for exact
applications, but in general, this pan was used from 1965-71 on "C" body
cars with 383's and 440's.
This part is physically identical to the 699 pan
(below.) These make a great pan for
swapping big block's into "A" bodies because of the notch for suspension
clearance. If you are doing a swap, they will also fit 1966-72 B bodies and
1970-74 E bodies, although they never came from the factory in those cars.
Use our 111-1008 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. We now offer a NEW REPRODUCTION pan which is essentially a performance version of this pan which retains the tie rod clearance notch, but features a deeper sump for more oil capacity. Available here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-6-quart-A-or-C-body-with-tie-rod-relief-Extra-Thick/productinfo/547/ |
Shown here is a factory "699" oil
pan, Chrysler part number 3671697.
These are about 5" deep and hold 4 quarts of oil, plus
one in the filter, for 5 quarts total.
See the table at the bottom of this page for exact applications, but in
general, this pan was used from 1972-73 on "C" body cars with 383's and
440's. This part is physically identical to the 187 pan (above), and
versions can be found with or without an internal welded oil baffle. These
make a great pan for swapping big block's into "A" bodies because of the
notch for suspension clearance.
If you are doing a swap, they will also fit 1966-72 B
bodies and 1970-74 E bodies, although they never came from the factory in
those cars.
Use our 111-1008 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. We now offer a NEW REPRODUCTION pan which is essentially a performance version of this pan which retains the tie rod clearance notch, but features a deeper sump for more oil capacity. Available here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-6-quart-A-or-C-body-with-tie-rod-relief-Extra-Thick/productinfo/547/ |
Shown here is a factory "695" oil
pan, Chrysler part number 3671693.
These were used on 400's in 1972 only. This pan is
physically identical to a "402" pan in every way. It also has the internal
baffle, identical to the 402's. Since the 402 number was last used in 1971,
they likely reissued the same part under this "695" number for 1972 only. It
was common for Chrysler to end a part number and "re-issue" the same part
under a new number. This was done for many reasons, likely bookeeping or
logistics related or so they could charge a new higher price under the new
number, etc. This pan is about 4.5" deep and holds 4 quarts of oil, plus
one in the filter, for 5 quarts total.
Use our 111-1007 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. Although these pans are no longer available, you can get the "402" pan as a new reproduction, which will be identical to this pan in every way as far as function, but will have the number "402" instead of "695" stamped into it. You can find them here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-4-quart-402-Stamping-New-Reproduction/productinfo/200-1160/ |
Shown here is a factory "854" oil
pan, Chrysler part number 3671852.
These were used on 440's in 1972 only. This pan is
physically identical to the
1970-71 426 Hemi pan, Chrysler part number 2951564
in every way, except this pan is stamped with the "854" number, whereas the
2951564 pan was blank (not stamped.) This pan also has the internal baffle,
identical to the 2951564. Since the 564 pan was last used in 1971, they
likely reissued the same part under this "854" number for 1972 only.
Interestingly, they also decided to use it on 440's in 1972 after the Street
Hemi was discontinued in 1971. It was common for Chrysler to end a part
number and "re-issue" the same part under a new number. This was done for
many reasons, likely bookeeping or logistics related or so they could charge
a new higher price under the new number, etc. This pan is about 5" deep and holds
6 quarts of oil, plus
one in the filter, for 7 quarts total.
Although these pans are no longer available, you can get our Street Hemi "2951564" pan as a new reproduction, which will be identical to this pan in every way as far as function, but will have no part number stamped into it, instead of the "854" number that these original pans have stamped into them. You can find them here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-6-quart-66-72B-Body-_-70-74E-Body-EXTRA-THICK/productinfo/564/ Use our 111-1007 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. |
Shown here is a factory
rear sump truck pan,
originally Chrysler part numbers 3577640 and 4027236. These are about 6"
deep and hold 6 quarts of oil, plus one in the filter, for 7 quarts total.
This setup cannot use a regular style dipstick, since the area in the block
where the dipstick fits is not over the oil sump area, so a
special dipstick must be used which threads
directly into the side of the oil pan.
These dipsticks were originally sold under Chrysler part number 3735103 for
the dipstick tube and 3496958 for the dipstick itself.
The hole in the block which the dipstick normally would fit into must be
plugged with a
small aluminum plug. Be careful not to
confuse these pans with front sump pans. One easy way to tell the difference
is that rear sump pans will have the drain plug on the back of the pan,
while front sump pans will have the drain plug on the bottom of the sump.
This pan also uses a
special pickup which was Chrysler part
number 3577989 and 4027238.
We now offer a New reproduction version of
this pan here:
https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-Rear-Sump-Truck-EXTRA-THICK/productinfo/640/ |
Shown here is an original factory
"402" oil pan, Chrysler part number 2532401. See the table at the
bottom of this page for exact applications, but in general, this pan was
used on most 1966-71 "B" and "E" bodies with high performance 383's and
440's. Includes internal baffle.
These are about 4.5" deep and hold 4 quarts of oil,
plus one in the filter, for 5 quarts total. Use our 111-1007 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. We now offer these in a NEW REPRODUCTION version here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-4-quart-402-Stamping-New-Reproduction/productinfo/200-1160/ |
Shown here is an original factory
USED "933" oil pan. There were supplied by Chrysler as part number 3751934
in high performance applications which included the internal welded oil
baffle, and as part number 3751932 in non high performance applications
which did not have the oil baffle. See the table at the
bottom of this page for exact applications, but in general, this pan was
used from 1974 until the end of production on "C" body cars with high
performance 400's and 440's. These are unique and easily identifiable
because they are the only pan to have the drain plug on the side of the sump
rather than the rear, where Chrysler usually put them on all other pans.
If you are doing a swap, they will also fit 1966-72 B
bodies and 1970-74 E bodies, although they never came from the factory in
those cars.
These are about 5" deep and
hold 4 quarts of oil, plus one in the filter, for 5 quarts total. Use our 111-1008 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. PAN NO LONGER AVAILABLE |
Shown here is an original factory
USED "971" oil pan, Chrysler part number 3614970. Mopar
Performance did sell these as a reproduction item for many years under part
number P5249063, although they are now discontinued.
They were also sold by Moroso as part number 20765,
also now long discontinued. Moroso also made them into an aftermarket deep
sump version as well.
The factory ones are about 5" deep and hold 4 quarts of oil, plus one in the filter, for 5 quarts total. See the table at the bottom of this page for exact applications, but in general, this pan was used from 1973 until the end of production on standard and high performance 400's and 440's in B body applications. These pans feature an internal baffle. This is the ONLY pan that will fit 1973 and later B bodies correctly. Use our 111-1007 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. We now offer these in a NEW REPRODUCTION version here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-971-Stamping-73-Later-B-Body-EXTRA-THICK/productinfo/971/ |
Shown here is an original factory
USED front sump truck and motorhome pan. Be careful not to confuse these
pans with rear sump pans. One easy way to tell the difference is that rear
sump pans will have the drain plug on the back of the pan, while front sump
pans will have the drain plug on the bottom of the sump (as shown). This pan
uses a special pickup which is Chrysler part number 1852635. A regular "car
type" dipstick does work with this pan. PAN NO LONGER AVAILABLE |
Shown here is the 1966-69 426 Hemi
pan used in B and E bodies, Chrysler part number 2780547.
These pans feature an internal baffle.
These are unique because they have the same "notch" for suspension clearance
that the 187/699 pans have, but the sump is deeper at 5 3/4", which allows
for a 6 quart oil capacity (7 with the filter.) Because of the suspension
clearance notch and the higher oil capacity, these also make a great pan for
doing big block A body swaps.
These used to be super rare and sell for top dollar since they only came on
original factory Hemi cars, but since they are now made as reproduction
items, they are available at a very reasonable price.
This pan is now available as a NEW REPRODUCTION version here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-6-quart-A-or-C-body-with-tie-rod-relief-Extra-Thick/productinfo/547/ Use our 101-1009 oil pickup with this pan. |
Shown here is the 1970-71 426 Hemi pan used in B and E bodies, Chrysler part
number 2951564.These
are about 5" deep and hold 6 quarts of oil, plus one in the filter, for 7
quarts total.
These pans feature an internal baffle, shown above.
When designing this pan, you can see that the engineers used the same
general sump shape with the "curved front" from the earlier Max Wedge pans
(see pan #307 below), but made it about a half inch deeper. And the sump is
positioned further forward on the pan to fit the 1966 and later "B" and 1970
and later"E" body chassis.
These are the best pans to use for street applications in 1966-72 B bodies
and 1970-74 E bodies, since they offer a full 6 quarts of capacity. These used to be super rare and sell for top dollar
since they only came on original factory Hemi cars, but since they are now
made as reproduction items, they are available at a very reasonable price.
This pan is now available as a NEW REPRODUCTION here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-6-quart-66-72B-Body-_-70-74E-Body-EXTRA-THICK/productinfo/564/ Use our 111-1007 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. |
Shown here is the "Early Style" pan used in C bodies when big blocks first
came out in 1958 (in 350 and 361 versions) until 1964. Think '58 Plymouth
Fury (Christine) and Belvederes, and the big Chryslers and Dodges of that
era. These were Chrysler part number
1737768, 1944694 and 2268459, and possibly other numbers as well.
These are about 5 5/8" deep and hold 4 quarts of oil, plus one in the
filter, for 5 quarts total.
This pan is now available as a NEW reproduction under our part number 200-1161 Use our 101-1009 oil pickup with this pan. |
Shown here is the 1962-64 Max Wedge
pan used on 413 and 426 Max Wedge engines in B bodies, Chrysler part number
2402307.
These are about 4.5" deep and hold 6 quarts of oil, plus one in the filter,
for 7 quarts total.
These pans feature an internal baffle.
These are the best pans to use in any early (1962-65) B body since they
offer a full 6 quarts of capacity. These used to be super rare and sell for
top dollar since they only came on original factory Max Wedge cars, but
since they are now made as reproduction items, they are available at a very
reasonable price.
This pan is now available as a NEW reproduction under our part number 200-1154. Use our 111-1007 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. |
Shown here is the 1967-69 Big Block A
body
pan used on Darts and A bodies that came from the factory with 383's and
440's. This pan was Chrysler part number
2863892, and is stamped with an "893" number on it.
These are about 4.5" deep and hold 6 quarts of oil, plus one in the filter,
for 7 quarts total. These pans feature an internal baffle.
These is a good pan to use if you are putting a big block into an A body
since they are an exact reproduction of what the factory suppied in original
big block A body cars. These offer a full 6 quarts of capacity. These used
to be super rare and sell for top dollar since they only came on original
factory big block A body cars (which of course were very rare), but since
they are now made as reproduction items, they are available at a very
reasonable price.
This pan is now available as a NEW REPRODUCTION here: https://store.440source.com/Oil-Pan-6-quart-67-69-Big-Block-A-Body-Factory-Repro-Pan/productinfo/200-1155/ Use our 111-1007 Reproduction Oil Pickup with this pan. |
